Obituary of Joseph R. "Joe" Massiello

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Columbus: Joseph R. "Joe" Massiello, age 48 of Columbus, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Samaritan Hospice at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Mr. Massiello was born in Santa Clara, California and resided in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York before moving to New Jersey. He was so proud to be a general manager for Wawa since 2009. Joseph was responsible for overseeing the dedications and grand openings of many Wawa locations, including the first drive thru facility. Joe always loved his trips to AC with Kelly, where they met. Some of his favorite times were taking Kelly and Ruby to Hershey Park and Kalahari Resort, cheering on the New York Mets baseball, New York Jets football and the Duke Blue Devils basketball teams to victory. Joe was a pretty good golfer and won his neighborhood golf tournament last summer. He was compassionate about animals, especially cats, often welcoming a stray to become part of his family. Joseph will be celebrated for his loving and kind personality, his dedicated work ethic and incredible family values. However, perhaps most importantly he will always and forever be Ruby's "Hero". Mr. Massiello was a member of the Fellowship Crosspoint Church in Chesterfield. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Massiello, sister, Jamie Spinelli and father-in-law, John Barta II. Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 12 years, Kelly Barta Massiello, loving daughter, Ruby Grace Massiello, mother, June E. Massiello, mother-in-law, Sandy Barta, sister-in-law, Courtney Barta, 2 nieces and 1 nephew, several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many feline companions. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 AM at the Fellowship Crosspoint Church, 187 Crosswicks Chesterfield Road, Chesterfield with Pastor Brennan Coughlin officiating. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling and Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Final disposition will be held privately. Condolences may be sent to www.koschekandporterfuneralhome.com
