I met Joe when I was around 15 years old playing hockey in a K-Mart parking lot late at night on school nights. Well it was a school night for me, I was the young kid playing hockey with the older guys who were all capable of buying alcohol and drove what I thought were fancy cars…Joe drove a white Ford Probe-real fancy. We clicked immediately, being Mets and Jets fans was a thing we had in common. Him being an Islanders fan and me being a Rangers fan we had a reason to argue and talk smack to each other as well. Late night hockey games where Championships were won and Joe fought all my battles because I was the kid amongst the men. James Bond video game contests at Nick and Jerry’s apartment with our other friends turned into me working with Joe at CVS, Macys, and various restaurants. He was my boss at work but we were best friends- it was never a boss/employee type of relationship. Joe was like the older brother I never had as our friendship grew over the years. He even helped me become a shift supervisor at CVS, my first taste of management, which I quickly knew wasn’t for me. We drove limousines together, we even ran a somewhat “illegal underground” blackjack game in his apartment….his parents basement (hopefully the statue of limitations is up on that). We did things randomly at all hours of the day and night like drive from Foxwoods to Atlantic City hoping our luck would change at the Caribbean Stud table, standing in Times Square on New Year’s Eve for hours and hours, front row at a Britney Spears concert and Mets games. Throughout all of this I always saw Joe as a friend to everyone. Whether you just needed an ear to listen or someone to tell you like it is, Joe was always there helping others improve themselves no matter how big or small the improvement. He was always there with words of encouragement or advice…even a plan to succeed. Even when Joe moved to New Jersey and starting dating his future wife Kelly, our friendship never changed. He was always there for a text or call no matter what we had going on in our lives. The happiest I’ve ever seen Joe was the day he married Kelly and the day Ruby was born. He loved you guys so much. More than I could ever describe with words. I was able to visit Joe in the hospital several times over the last few months and most recently the day he was moved into hospice. He always knew who I was, always told a funny story about us growing up to the medical staff and
he still had his snarky comments about politics and other things going on. We’re all here celebrating his life because at one time he helped us or made an impression on us and became a great friend or even family. Joe is now at peace. Peacefully resting with his dad, sister and father in law and I know they’re all sitting a table playing some cards, drinking a beer, laughing and smiling down on
us. (I’m sure he’s even making fun of me for this in his own playful way) but he knows I miss my best friend and he knows all of you miss him too.

Really at a lost for words as I even write this. Joe was truly an amazing man. He was a true go-getter and didn't hold much back when i came to a joke lol. It was pretty much Joe's way and maybe some of your way, because he sure was going to have his hands in it. I had the opportunity to do the new remodel concept with Joe in Edgewater, NJ (Wawa #959) and also worked with him in some of the pre-work for the new drive-thru concept in Westampton NJ. He loved the challenge and he not only valued people, but he seen the best in people. He was a man of his word and a true servant leader to many. I recall him wanting to head up to the Poconos, bragging about his wife and then later his daughter. I true family man and dedicated to the real true meaning of life. I'm truly going to miss you, Joe. My condolences go to the family. May God continue to provide comfort in this time.

My thoughts and prayers for Kelly and Ruby the too most important people in his life. Joe and I meet about ten years ago at Wawa he was my boss. He always tried to see the good in people, we developed a more personal relationship through the years where we texted each other often. He sent me many pictures of Ruby as she grew through the years. She is truly the love of his life. I will miss him a lot.

We are placed here on Earth for specific reasons sometimes we are not able to define those reasons however the journey we have completed is what our Friends and Family will have as cherished memories. This is not the easiest road for anyone however stay strong Kelly as the incredible life that he has lived will help you get through this time. It will not go away; he will forever be with you and your daughter, and I pray you find the right amount of strength when needed to get through each day. Stay strong!!! Venisha RWJ Cancer Center

Joe has been one of the greatest mentors I’ve ever had. Joe’s wisdom, kindness, humor, positivity and thoughtfulness has touched the lives of everyone around him. He could always make any person laugh if they’re having a rough day. In the five years I’ve opened stores with him and worked side by side with him and I’ve never met anyone quite like him. I’ve always looked up to him in more ways than one. Ive always admired how much he loves his family like no other. Joe thank you for absolutely everything and more. We will all miss you forever.

My deepest condolences in the loss of your husband and my friend. My heart aches for you and Ruby. Words can't come close to making any sense of this or taking away the pain. I met Joe a few years ago at a few Wawa grand openings, I was asked to take the photos for the stores, including the Taylor's Lane store, (the photo is from there) the new few grand openings are never going to be the same. He was the best guy in the room, always smiling, always making jokes, always talking about cats, Christmas decorations, we use to try to beat each other with inflatables, he always won because he/you have a bigger yard than I have. I will always remember him. Please keep him close to your heart, he will always be with you and Ruby.

Joe - I will always cherish our time together both at work and outside. We shared many memories at work, on the golf course, your wedding dancing with Grandma and so much more. Even 1000 miles away you found ways to bust my chops. Your sarcasm was like no other, your heart was even bigger. My wife and family adored you, you will be missed my friend.

When I first met Joe, three things were evident:
1. He loved Jesus
2. He was head over heels for Kelly
3. He loved his princess Ruby
Those three things were still evident through these challenging months. Prayers are with you, Kelly. Ruby, you have a special daddy.
