Obituary of Vivian Dillon

Please share a memory of Vivian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vivian Dillon of Florence, NJ. Vivian was 73 years old. She passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2023, as a result of complications from COVID and Multiple Myeloma.

Vivian was born on July 17, 1949, to Louise and Salvatore Salem of the Bronx, NY. She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1967, and went on to receive both bachelor's and master's degrees from Lehman College and Hunter College, respectively.

After graduating, Vivian went on to a long and distinguished career in the field of recreational therapy, working at various New York and New Jersey institutions providing care for seniors and patients with special needs. As a recognized leader in her field, Vivian readily shared her expertise and experience with her staff and with other therapists she met at professional conferences.

In 1979, Vivian met Michael Dillon in New York and quickly recognized that she met the man with whom she was meant to spend her life. They were married in 1980 in Larchmont, NY. Together Vivian and Michael led an active life that included travel, boating, camping, and scuba diving. They shared a deep love for their cats Missy, Alley, Sylvester, Gracie and Fred.

In 2010, Vivian and Michael relocated from their Nanuet, NY home to one in Florence, NJ. Vivian later retired in 2019, but continued to live an active life with Michael, including more camping trips in their RV, as well as taking up the game of Bridge, which she played regularly with several of her neighbors.

Vivian was predeceased by her parents Louise and Salvatore Salem. She is survived by her husband Michael, Michael's two sons from an earlier marriage, Bruce and Tom. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Richard and his wife MaryAnn, and their children Nicholas, his wife Rachel, and Jessica and her husband Craig.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Friends may call Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Interment will be in Holy Assumption Cemetery, Roebling. In lieu of flowers, and in the hope that future cures may be found, the family requests that donations be made to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, http://www.multiplemyeloma.org/ 383 Main Ave., 5th floor, Norwalk CT 06851-1586 203-229-0464.
