Roebling: Lonney N. Brown, Jr., age 66 of Roebling, New Jersey departed this life on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his residence in the company of his loving family. Mr. Brown was born in Mount Holly and was the son of the late Lonney N. Sr. and Phyllis Foulks Brown. He resided in Florence Township lifelong. Mr. Brown served his community with honor and was a retired police officer and detective for the Florence Township Police Department. This accomplishment was his lifelong dream. After retiring in 2004 with 27 years of dedicated service, Lonney was employed by the Florence Township Board of Education as Dean of Students and head of security at the Florence Township Memorial High School from 2004 until 2017. In addition to the police department and high school, Lonney was a security officer for the Burlington County Community College. He was admired and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Lonney was a mentor to many of the students at the high school and throughout Florence Township. He was a loving and selfless individual who always put the needs of others before his own. First and foremost to Lonney was his love for his family. In 2009 he became Pop Pop to a new joy in his life when Olivia joined their family. Lonney and Olivia were inseparable, spending as much time together as their lives would allow. Olivia had the unique ability to make Lonney's life go a little bit smoother. Just what the doctor ordered! He will be sorely missed by many and forever loved by all. Mr. Brown was a member of the Florence Township FOP Lodge 210, former member of the Roebling Rescue Squad and the Florence Township Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra M. Lauria Brown, his children, Nicholas Brown and Becky Foulks and Gina Brown, granddaughter, Olivia Johnson, step mother, Darlene Brown, siblings and their spouses, Randall and Vicky Brown, Pam and Jamie Potpinka, Julie and John Ferranto, Trent and Kimberly Todash and Trevor and Marie Todash, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His funeral service will be held 3:30 PM Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling with Pastor Paul Scrimale officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Final disposition will be held privately. Social distancing and gathering restrictions will be in effect. All visitors will be required to wear a facial covering and immediately return to their vehicles and leave the premises to allow for additional visitors to pay their final respects. Lonney's family is grateful for everyone's cooperation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Samaritan Hospice, 3906 Church Road, Mount Laurel, New Jersey 08054.
