Obituary of Joseph W. "Bud" Russo Jr.

Florence: Joseph W. "Bud" Russo Jr., age 91 of Florence, New Jersey entered his eternal life on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Mr. Russo was born in Trenton and was the son of the late Joseph William Russo and Mary Hammell Russo. He was a resident of Florence Township for the majority of his life. Joseph was a graphic design illustrator for the Department TASC, TV Branch, Fort Dix, New Jersey, retiring after 30 years of loyal service. Mr. Russo served his country with honor as a combat medic in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army during the Korean War. Bud and his wife, Angeline loved to travel. Some of their most cherished adventures included their trips to Montana, Wyoming and Tennessee. Joseph was a gifted shutterbug, who found great pleasure taking photos on their many travel adventures. Bud designed the illustration for the front of the annual Christmas card for the 82nd Airborne Division for many years which was sent to all of the members. He was a proud supporter of Florence Township sports, volunteering his time and talents as the videographer for the Florence Township Memorial High School girls’ basketball team. Bud loved reading and always found time in his day to read a good book. Mr. Russo was a faithful parishioner of St. Clare's Church in Florence throughout his life, he was a member of the Opre Larson VFW Post 8838 in Roebling and the Francis W. Robbins American Legion Post 194 in Florence, the 82nd Airborne Division Association, the US Army Ranger Association, Infantry Division Association, Association of the US Army Dix Chapter and the Society of the Bayonet Division. Joseph received the TASC Appreciation Award for his exemplary service. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Virginia "Ginger" Russo. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Angeline Fantozzi Russo, daughter, Linda Russo, beloved granddaughter, Taryn Paglione, many special and cherished nieces and nephews, his cousins, Jerry and Carol Cadenhead and his sister-in-law, Agnes "Dolly" Campbell. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Catholic Wake services will be conducted during the calling hours. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Florence. The family requests memorial contributions in Joseph’s memory are made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306.
