Obituary of Walter J. Marxer Jr.

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Florence Township: Walter J. Marxer Jr., age 79 of Florence, New Jersey passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at his home in the company of his loving family. Mr. Marxer was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 7, 1943, to the late Walter J. Marxer Sr. and Rita Prisinger Marxer. Walt grew up in Pittsburgh and resided in Willingboro before moving to Florence Township 40 years ago. He served his country with honor in the US Army during the Vietnam War in the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked for many years as a System Analyst for DeLaval (Trenton), Heritage Bank and Edgcomb Metals (Bensalem Twp.). When Walt retired, he was rural delivery carrier for the United States Postal Service in Burlington. Walter was a diehard Pittsburgh sports enthusiast. One of his fondest memories was a three-day excursion to Pittsburgh with his sons to visit the local sports stadiums and local attractions to share his pride of the area he grew up in. Perhaps, his greatest joy in life was fulfilling the role of “pap pap” to his grandsons, Lucas and Cooper. He was their biggest fan at all of their sporting events and was ecstatic of their accomplishments. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Marxer and is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Elaine Wagner Marxer, his loving children and their spouses, Heath and Melissa Marxer and Dale and Amanda Marxer, his beloved grandchildren, Lucas and Cooper Marxer, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Paula Wagner, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Fred and Cindy Toth. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023 with Chaplain John Connors officiating at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey. Final disposition with military honors will be held privately in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.  The family requests memorial donations in Walter’s memory are made to Samaritan Hospice, Samaritan Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176-1425.
