Obituary of Carol A. Eckman

Florence Township: Carol A. Chanti Eckman, age 83 of Florence Township, New Jersey completed her journey on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in the company of her loving family. Mrs. Eckman was born in Trenton and was the daughter of the late Michael and Emma Kinczel Chanti. Carol was a proud resident of Florence Township for her entire life. She was a retired supervisor for the State of New Jersey Division of Taxation in Trenton with 14 years of dedicated service. Carol was a 1958 graduate of Cathedral High School in Trenton and earned her Associates Degree from Rider University. She began her teaching career as third grade teacher in Holy Assumption Catholic School in Roebling and later finished her teaching career in All Saints Catholic School in Burlington. Carol was gifted with a lovely singing voice. She shared this talent with her church community and complimented many couple's Wedding Day. As a founding member of the Florence Township Chapter of Deborah, she unselfishly supported this organization with her leadership and fundraising efforts for more than 50 years. It was through these efforts that Carol was able to serve Florence Township residents and help them receive the care and medical attention provided by Deborah Hospital. Carol was an exceptional cook and an amazing baker. She was a woman of character and faith who will be affectionately celebrated as a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister and true friend. Those who knew Carol are truly blessed to have been a part of her circle of love. Mrs. Eckman was a member of Holy Assumption Church and the Altar Rosary Society and Sodality of the church, former member of the Holy Assumption School PTA, founding member of the Florence Township Chapter of Deborah, JAR Senior Citizens, Roebling and the Good Neighbors Senior Citizens, Florence. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas M. Eckman and is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Wayne Eckman, her children and their spouses, Virginia "Ginny" and Philip Rulli, Michele and Anthony DiMaio, Jennifer Eckman, David Eckman and Steven Eckman and Anthony Wills, her grandchildren, Chris, Liana, Emma, Justin, Joshua, Jacob, Michael, Maria, Nicholas, Lauryn and Dylan, her great grandchildren, sister, Doris Yaris, several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends and her extended Eckman family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling with Rev. Cesar Anson officiating.  Friends may call Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Interment will be in Holy Assumption Cemetery, Roebling.
