Obituary of Margaret "Margo" Timko Lucas

Somerset: Margaret “Margo” Timko Lucas, age 96 of Somerset, New Jersey and formerly of Florence Township, New Jersey entered her eternal life at her home on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Mrs. Lucas was born in Roebling and called Roebling and Florence her home for the majority of her life before moving to Somerset. She also resided part time in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Mrs. Lucas was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough and was a former member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Roebling. She shared her time, talents and generosity with both parishes throughout her life. Margaret and her late husband, Michael, were the proprietors of the Town Liquor Store for many years and she was also employed by US Steel in Trenton. Margo's flower and veggie gardens were amazing. She had the talent and patience to connect with nature to create her own personal oasis. Margaret was a warm and gifted hostess, who took great pride when entertaining family and friends. Some of her most enjoyable times were spent in her kitchen preparing her ethnic dishes and baking incredible desserts. However, attending and supporting her grandchildren's activities were always the highlight of her day! She was the daughter of the late John Timko and Mary Marajda Timko and the devoted wife of 53 years to her late husband, Michael T. Lucas who passed away in 2004. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, John Timko Jr., niece, Leslie Vichko and nephew, John Timko III. Margaret is survived by her daughters  and son-in-law, Dr. Robin Lucas of Somerset, New Jersey and Jill L. and Patrick Guerin of Bonita Springs, Florida, her beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Connor and Liam and her niece, Janet Leone. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the church at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 12, 2023 for the Funeral Liturgy at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 191 Norman Avenue, Roebling with Rev. Yuriy Oros and Rev. James Badeaux officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township. The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Margaret are made to the Florence Township Shade Tree and Beautification Commission, 711 Broad Street, Florence, New Jersey 08518.
