Obituary of Louis V. "Lou" Bunnick

Roebling: Louis Valentine Bunnick, age 81, of Roebling, New Jersey, passed away in the company of loved ones on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  Louis was born in Trenton to the late Elizabeth (Rebeles) and Valentine Bunnick and was a proud, life-long resident of Roebling. He was a graduate of Florence Township Memorial High School, class of 1960, a parishioner of St. Mary’s Romanian Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  He served in the Army National Guard for six years and a was member of the Jersey Devils Drum and Bugle Corps with his twin brother Michael for four years. He worked for thirty-six years at Public Service, Electric, & Gas, retiring as gas distribution supervisor in 2002. For 9 years he served on the Florence Township Board of Education. He was an avid sports fan, often cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles. Louis spent many years during his retirement working at the Trenton Thunder Ball Park and reading for the NJ Library for the Blind. For almost sixty years he, his wife, his children and grandchildren enjoyed vacationing together in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Louis is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife, Elizabeth Buccigrossi Bunnick. Louis and Betty would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 1st, 2023. He is also survived by his twin brother, Michael, of Roebling, who was married to the late Maryann Bunnick and his sister Valerie, also of Roebling, who was married to the late Richard Sweeney. Louis was the father of sons Louis (Julie) of Reading, PA, and Bruce (Susan), of Orwigsburg, PA and his daughters, Andrea Lamb (Jeffrey) of Baltimore, MD and Rebecca Graham (Paul) of Charlestown, RI. He was also blessed with his eight grandchildren, Natalie and Jeffrey Lamb, Emma and Anna Bunnick, Benjamin and Samuel Bunnick, and Henry and Elizabeth Graham. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Byzantine Romanian Catholic Church, 180 Alden Ave, Roebling, NJ with Rev. George David officiating.  Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Mary's Byzantine Romanian Catholic Church, c/o Elizabeth Bunnick, 5 Ninth Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey 08554.
