Obituary of Ethel M. Herbert

Florence: Ethel M. Herbert of Florence, New Jersey went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 10, 2022. She was born on Amboy Avenue in Roebling and was one of 15 children. Ethel lived her married life in Florence and was employed by the Florence Township Board of Education working in the school cafeteria, advancing herself to become the head cook. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Florence for 60 years working with the children. For the last five years she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington. Mrs. Herbert loved cooking and hosting family dinners. Some of her most enjoyable times were spent with her family, taking care of her grandchildren, going for walks and loved being outside and watching the birds. Ethel and her late husband, John were "snowbirds" for 13 years traveling to Florida for the winter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Herbert, Sr., grandsons, David Walsh, Aaron Herbert Talpas and Michael Talpas IV and is survived by her children, Janice Herbert of Port Charlotte, FL, Karen Herbert of Florence, NJ., John Jr. and Andrea Herbert of Florence, NJ, her sisters, Olga Wasielewski of Burlington, NJ, Rosalie Kalechelin and Elizabeth Gyenge of Bordentown, NJ, her grandchildren, Adraine Walsh and John III, Jacob, Jenna Herbert, her great grandchildren, Benjamin and Brianna Walsh and Jace Grubb as well as nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue Roebling, New Jersey. Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Lowe officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.
