Obituary of Timothy J. Ryan

Please share a memory of Timothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Westampton Township: Tim grew up on 8th Avenue in Roebling, the second of five children. He attended Mansfield University, taught Spanish at Burlington City High School for 28 years and finally retired as a Field Representative for the NJEA after 15 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna when he was 21 and they were married for 50 years. He was fiercely loyal with high moral standards—he was the core of his family. The best husband, brother, father and pop pop, he cherished every moment in time with family. Tim's grandkids were his greatest joy. From boat rides on the river to enjoying meals together at Curtin's to lazy days at home, Tim loved every second of family time with his girls and their families. He bought a Go-Kart for his grandkids and was so proud to teach them to drive. He lived a very full life and filled it with things he loved, as evidenced by a quote Tim very recently wrote on his guitar, "Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend." (Beatles) He loved golfing many times a week and Harley riding with his buddies, especially trips to the Hot Diggidy Dog and Evergreen. Tim loved routine trips to Columbus Sale, talking politics, researching his Irish family heritage, playing cards, boating, watching NASCAR and eating at diners. He also loved woodworking/crafting with every possible material. He could fix and build anything so he was often called into service. Music defined him: from his high school and college bands, to SPYCE, to singing and playing his guitar every single day. Let's remember Tim through a line from the song, "In My Life" by the Beatles. Tim wrote every lyric in Donna's HS yearbook:

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I've loved them all

In my life, I love you more.

Tim was the son of the late William F. Ryan Sr. and Clare C. Cantwell Ryan and the brother of the late Terrence G. Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna McCorriston Ryan, his children and their spouses, Wendy and Peter Gordon, Jennifer Perry and Amy Ryan and Patrick Kovach-Long, beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, Molly, Addy Clare, and Theodore, his siblings and their spouses, William F. and Christine Ryan, Daniel P. Ryan, Elizabeth A. Ryan and Samuel Kramer, his extended family, Margaret and Frank Gonzalez, Debra Zube and John Pappano, Kathleen and Frank Csik, Timothy McCorriston and Jeannie and Robert Perry. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ with Deacon Al Pennise officiating.
