Port Charlotte, Florida: James V. Delisi Jr., (Jim) age 76 passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in Port Charlotte, Florida from acute leukemia after a yearlong fight. Jim was born in Austin, Texas, the son of a Navy family who settled in Pemberton, NJ. He graduated from Pemberton Twp. High School in 1963, then the University of Miami with an Army ROTC commission as a Second Lieutenant. He served in Vietnam and Germany receiving the rank of Captain. After leaving the military, Jim worked for a short time in the Pemberton School District and then went on for a career employment in the New Lisbon Developmental Center for over 25 years. Following his retirement, Jim relocated to Port Charlotte and enjoyed many wonderful years of swimming, fishing, visiting friends and family, traveling, cruising and senior softball. He followed most pro sports games and players, quoting statistics like an encyclopedia. Jim was a life member of the American Legion and the VFW. He lived his life in his own way, no excuses, few regrets. Jim was a loved family member and a good friend. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Alida and James Delisi and his sister Claire Delisi. He is survived and will be missed by his sister, Lorraine and brother-in-law Alan Harris, sister, Rosemary Dwyer and many nieces and nephews, Allyson and Jon Swanson, Christine and Glenn Brown, Darlene and Michael Molenda, Diane and Sean McInerney, Brian and Jen Harris, Denny and Christy Dwyer and James and Brittany Delisi. A private burial service with military honors will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Township, NJ at the family's discretion.
