Obituary of Frances Almassy

Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Roebling: Frances Almassy, one of the oldest Florence Township, New Jersey residents, entered her eternal life at the age of 106 on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at her home in the company of her loving family. Mrs. Almassy was born in Brooklyn to the late Martin and Mary Corranich Wayert. Frances called Roebling her home since 1949. She retired from Gamble Electronics in Riverside and was also employed by Two Guys Department Store in Bordentown. Mrs. Almassy was a US Army veteran of World War II. Frances took pride in her flower garden, mastered the art of crocheting and loved to play bingo. She enjoyed strolling on the boardwalk in Seaside Park and her trips to the Atlantic City casinos. Mrs. Almassy always found time in her day to go shopping. However, spending time with her family was her favorite activity. Mrs. Almassy was a member of Mary Mother of the Church Parish, Holy Assumption Church in Roebling, the Willitts Hogan Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling and the Good Neighbors Senior Citizens in Florence. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Almassy who passed away in 1993, son-in-law, John Gillen, and granddaughters, Stephanie Almassy and Lisa Sabo. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Barbara and Robert Hammell, Florence Gillen, Thomas and Michele Almassy and Catherine and Frank Camera, grandchildren, Susan, John, Kevin, Candice, Frankie, Samantha, Eric, Victoria, Joey, Amanda, Mark, Amy and Jason, great grandchildren, Amber, Morgan, Carter, Anthony, Cierrah, Scott, Peyton, Gianna, Mila, Emma, Ayden, Ryan, Alessia and Crew, great great grandchildren, Cason, Kye, Melina and Scott Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:00 AM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling with Deacon Ronald Schwoebel officiating. Friends may call Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township. Facial coverings are required for the visitation and funeral service. The family is grateful for everyone's cooperation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made to the Abrams Brothers Scholarship Fund, c/o Donald Porter, P.O. Box 85, Roebling, New Jersey 08554.
