Obituary of Richard A. "Dick" Glass

Burlington Township: Richard A. "Dick" Glass, age 91 of Burlington Township and formerly of Florence Township entered his eternal life peacefully on December 8, 2021 in the company of his loving family at the Masonic Village at Burlington. Mr. Glass was born in Florence and was the son of the late August and Lillian Patterson Glass. He resided in Florence most of his life before moving to Burlington Township recently. He retired as the manager of the Academy Woods Apartments in Florence after 25 years of exemplary service. Additionally, Mr. Glass retired from the military, serving his country with honor for 25 years in the US Navy, US Coast Guard the US Army. He represented his community on the Florence Township Council and presented history demonstrations for the local schools, community organizations and the Boy Scouts and Sea Cadets. He unselfishly volunteered his time and talents to the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for more than 22 years. Dick enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and many countries with his favorite traveling companion and the love of his life, his wife Jerrie. Mr. Glass was a longtime member and elder of the Providence Presbyterian Church in Florence Township, 70 year member of the Francis W. Robbins American Legion Post 194 in Florence serving as past post commander and several additional positions, Opre Larson VFW Post 8838 in Roebling serving as past post commander, 50 year member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 in Bordentown, Past Patron of the Eastern Star in Bordentown and the Grand Chapter to the District of Columbia Eastern Star. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his second mother, Elsie Marshall Glass, his beloved son, David Raymond Glass and siblings, Julia Irwin and Bill Glass. He is survived by his soulmate of 70 years and wife of 65 years, Geraldine "Jerrie" Dempsy Glass, his children and a spouse, Rich and Mary Glass, Amy Glass and Becky Glass, grandchildren, Johanna and Emily Glass, his bonus family, Lisa and Tom Huber and their family, sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Louis Kocsis and their family, his extended Dempsy family, including Rosemary Horlacher as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 AM at the Providence Presbyterian Church, 2087 Old York Road, Burlington with Rev. Dr. James Kraft officiating. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ and Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Florence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the Providence Presbyterian Church, 2087 Old York Road, Burlington, NJ 08016 or the Masonic Village at Burlington, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016.
