Obituary of Valerie L. "Val" Metz

Florence Township:  Valerie L. “Val” Metz, age 63 of Florence, New Jersey passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Mrs. Metz was born in New Brunswick and was the daughter of the late Joseph Filippoli and the late Janet Smith Weber. She was a resident of Florence for 39 years. Val enjoyed the role of homemaker and cooking. Valerie especially enjoyed planning and preparing the Thanksgiving and Christmas family meals. Some of her most treasured times were spent in the kitchen teaching her grandchildren how to cook. Val found pleasure feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard. In addition to her parents, Valerie was predeceased by her sister, Janet Filippoli. She is survived by her husband, Martin J. Metz, daughter & son-in-law, Nicole & Brian Young, son, Jeffrey Metz, sister & brother-in-law, Donna & Michael Blanton, brother & sister-in-law, Joseph & Dana Filippoli, grandchildren, Kayleigh, Alaina, Dante, Eli and Jake as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Ave., Roebling with Dr. Jonathan Miller officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until time of service.
