Obituary of Michael P. "Mike" Sabol

Florence: Michael P. Sabol, 81, of Florence, New Jersey and formerly of Roebling, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt Holly. Born in Creekside, PA, he was a lifelong Florence and Roebling resident. He was a 1957 graduate of Florence Township Memorial High School and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Environmental Science from Drexel University. Michael retired in 2008 from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection – Air Quality after 35 years of dedicated service. Mike enjoyed bowling and listening to talk radio. Some of Mike's most enjoyable times were spent dancing and traveling with his wife, Anne. He was also gifted with a talent for painting using acrylics. Mr. Sabol was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Roebling where he was a member of the church choir. Son of the late Mike and Anna Sabol, uncle of the late Beverly Penna, and son-in-law of the late Francis and Catherine Wilson, he is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Anne C. Wilson Sabol, his daughter, Cathy Sabol Thomas and her husband, Brett, grandkitty, Pearl, brother, Joseph G. Sabol and his wife Betty, nephew, Richard Penna and Nikki Sridar, nephew, Joseph M. Sabol, grandnieces, Amanda Penna, Ashley Penna and husband Chiso Ibegbu and Sarah Penna and fiancé Matt Leith, grandnephews, Joseph, David and Matthew Sabol and his fiancé Sierra Weber, brothers-in-law and their wives, Joseph and Sally Wilson and James and Maureen Wilson and their families. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 191 Norman Ave, Roebling, NJ 08554. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for relatives and friends will be Wednesday from 9:00 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Ave, Roebling.
