Obituary of Edward J. Yaris

Roebling: Edward J. "Ed" Yaris, age 79 of Roebling, New Jersey departed this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in the company of his loving family. Mr. Yaris was born in Centralia, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Edward J. and Pauline Cheppa Yaris. He grew up in Bristol, Pennsylvania and resided there before relocating to Roebling 50 years ago. Ed was a retired electrical maintenance supervisor for General Motors Inland Fisher Guide in Ewing Township. Mr. Yaris served his country with honor in the US Air Force. Ed's motivation and dedication to the tasks at hand were the driving force behind his work ethic. He always stepped up to the occasion making numerous sacrifices to provide a better life for his family. Ed savored the simple pleasures in life which included creating, designing and maintaining his vegetable and flower garden and cultivating his landscapes. Mr. Yaris will be warmly regarded as a loving husband and an awesome dad and "Gigi" to Tyler, Ryan and Aaron. Some of the highlights of his day always included taking in his grandchildren's sporting activities. Mr. Yaris was a member of Holy Assumption Church in Roebling, the former Florence Township Chapter of Deborah and the Willitts Hogan Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling. In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by his sister, Daria Hockert, and his brother, Ted Yaris. Ed is survived by his wife, Doris Chanti Yaris, his children and their spouses, Michael Yaris, Melissa and William Dearden and Edward and Kelly Yaris, his grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Aaron, his sister Daria's family, his brother Ted's family and Carol and Wayne Eckman and their family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:00 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling. Interment will be in Holy Assumption Cemetery. Facial coverings are required. Social distancing will be in effect.
