Homestead at Mansfield: Chester E. Budd, Jr., age 81 of Homestead at Mansfield departed this life on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Mr. Budd was born in Bayonne and was the son of the late Chester E. Budd, Sr. and Valerie Niemic Budd. He resided in Hackettstown for 18 years before moving to Homestead at Mansfield 10 years ago. Chester retired in 2004 from his position as a Social Studies teacher for the Randolph Township Board of Education with more than 40 years of dedicated service. After his retirement, Chester became a driver for Manheim automobile auction in Bordentown. He was a member and president of the trustees of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Columbus. Chester was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and shared his talents with the church choir. He was a member and the chairman of the Covenant Committee of Homestead at Mansfield. Chester enjoyed his retirement traveling and going on cruises. Many of his most treasured times were spent tending to his garden, reading, fishing and enjoying the beach in Cape May. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Eric H. Budd and is survived by his wife of 28 years, Luanne Rusconi Budd, daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Frank Marshall, brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Barbara Budd, sister, Valerie Budd, grandchildren, Erica, Hailey, Evan, Jack, Emily, Alex, Madison, Kyra, Samantha, Gabrielle, Tessa, Elaina and Sophia, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Budd, his step children and their spouses who he considered his own, Dr. Robert and Tammy Heinrich, Michael and Lindsay Heinrich and Kristin and Keith Everett, several nieces and nephews and his special canine companion, Rosie. Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey 08554. A prayer service will be held 7:00 PM with Pastor Neill Tolboom officiating. Funeral services and final disposition will be held privately. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 25, Columbus, New Jersey 08022. Social distancing will be in effect. Facial coverings are required.
