Obituary of William J. "Bill" Bernardo

Florence Township: William J. "Bill" Bernardo, age 67 of Florence Township passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at his home in the company of his loving family. Mr. Bernardo was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late William M. and Mary A. Brochetti Bernardo. He resided in Florence Township lifelong. William was a retired dispatcher and driver employed by Woolston Construction in Bordentown, New Jersey with more than 20 years of dedicated service. He served his country with honor in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bernardo was a life member of the Florence Township Fire Department. Bill's love and devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings was beyond compare. Some of his most pleasurable experiences involved traveling to Pennsylvania to spend quality time with his family. His memory will be affectionately celebrated for his unique wit, lighthearted and fun-loving personality and his enthusiastic interest in "Classic Cars" He is survived by his wife of 47 years and soulmate for 52 years, Debbie Cupsie Bernardo, his children and their spouses, William J. Jr. and Elizabeth Bernardo, Brian Bernardo and Brett Billings and Kami and Dom Reitano, his grandchildren, McKenna, Brayden, Domenic, Nicholas and Angelo, his sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Bruce Small and Rosemary Bernardo, his uncles and their families, Louis, Bill, Frank and Fred Brochetti and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 11:00 AM at Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 8:30 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey. Final disposition will be held privately. Social distancing and gathering restrictions will be in effect. All visitors will be required to wear a facial covering and immediately return to their vehicles and leave the premises to allow for additional visitors to pay their final respects. William's family is grateful for everyone's cooperation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Samaritan Hospice, 3906 Church Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054.
