Edna Mae Cassidy (née Barrett), age 95, passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2020 at The Samaritan Center in Voorhees, NJ. Edna Mae was born in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY to Edward and Elizabeth Barrett. She was married to James Cassidy in 1948 until his passing in 1983. She lived in the Parlin section of Sayreville, NJ in 1955 until 1991 when she retired to Ormond Beach, FL. She was employed by Avon in NYC and Boynton Brothers Insurance in Perth Amboy, NJ as the head of bookkeeping until her retirement in 1991 She was a dedicated volunteer at the Prince of Peace Church in Ormond Beach. In 2016 she relocated to Florence, NJ and made new friends at Duffy School Apartments where she was a proud member of the "90's Club". Her last home was Riverview Estates where she received loving care until her death. She is predeceased by her husband, James Cassidy, her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Barrett, sisters Betty Anne Hummel and Therese Yates, and brother Eugene Barrett and their spouses. Edna Mae is survived by her seven children: James Cassidy and wife Laurie of Sayreville, NJ, Barry Cassidy and wife Maria of NYC, Chris Cassidy and wife Cindy of Menifee, CA, Mary Ann (Cassidy) Hewes and Husband Bill of Louisville, CO, Stephen Cassidy and wife Isabel of Union City, NJ, Jeanne (Cassidy) Deming and husband Rich of Wilton, CT, and Eileen (Cassidy) Bishop and husband Gene of Mt. Laurel, NJ; 14 grandchildren, Erin, Shani, Kristin, Julie, Neale (predeceased), Patrick, Dana, Chelsea, Jason, Beth, Jack, Mike, Leo, and Cathy; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren with another on the way; and many devoted nieces and nephews. She was a member of Mary Mother of the Church Parish (Holy Assumption worship site) in Roebling, NJ. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in Holy Assumption Church, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, New Jersey. There will be no calling hours. Final disposition will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her parish's St. Vincent DePaul Society at Mary Mother of the Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown, N.J. 08505.
