Obituary of Borys I. Umyn

Mansfield Township: Borys I. Umyn, age 77 of Mansfield Township passed away at home on Friday, November 8, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Umyn was born in Pryluky, Ukraine and was the son of the late Ivan D. and Anna Ohij Umyn. He resided in Lawrenceville before moving to Mansfield Township in 1973. Borys was a 1965 graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology and attended the Johnson Atelier School of Sculpture. He was a retired senior engineer, employed by Department of the Navy in Philadelphia, PA with 32 years of loyal service. Borys immigrated to the United States when he was 9 years old. He was grateful to experience this gift, privilege and great honor. There was nothing in this world that was quite as strong and astonishing as his love for his family. Borys was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife Lily and was an amazing father to his children. He will lovingly remain forever in the hearts of all who had the good fortune to know him. Mr. Umyn was a member of St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yardville serving on the governing board of the church and was a member of the church choir. He was also a member and past Worshipful Master of the Medford Lodge #178 of Free & Accepted Masons and served his community as a coach for the Bordentown Community Soccer Association. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lily Kuzmenko Umyn and siblings, Victor Umyn and Lida Plizko. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Zina Sirchuk Umyn, his children and their spouses, Dimitry B. Umyn (Bonnie Mayo), Lily B. Umyn and Andrew B. Umyn (Christl Schad), granddaughter, Ava L. Umyn, his extended family, Theodora Sullivan and family and Valeen Bhat and family, nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral services will be Tuesday 9:00 AM at St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 839 Yardville Allentown Road, Yardville with Very Rev. Petro Levko officiating. Friends may call Monday from 6:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Panahida service 7:00 PM Monday. Interment will be in St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Franklin Township, NJ.
