Alexandria, Virginia: Michael D. Black, age 63 of Alexandria passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 in the company of his loving family. Mr. Black was born in Irvine, Scotland and was the son of the late Courtney R. Black and the late Lorraine M. Porter Black and resided in Alexandria and Fairfax, Virginia most of his life. He was a retired telecommunications specialist, employed by the FBI in the J. Edgar Hoover Headquarters in Washington, DC with 33 years of dedicated service. Michael attended Cathedral High School in Trenton and graduated from Evergreen Senior High School in Evergreen, Colorado. He furthered his education receiving both his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. He was an active participant with the American Disabilities Act which is essential to ensuring the rights of persons who are disabled. Michael was a man of faith who continually fought to achieve his independence in spite of his lifelong disabilities. There comes a point in your life when you meet someone who makes such a difference in your life that you can't even imagine how you survived without them. That one person who points you in the right direction, who motivates you and encourages you, but most importantly, who inspires you to become the best version of yourself. This was Michael. He was his sister Kathryn's hero and best friend who will be affectionately remembered for his positive personality, infectious laughter and exuberant smile. He will be warmly thought of as a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. If you knew Michael, you automatically loved him. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Daniel W. and Karen Black and Kathryn H. and Stephen Schupsky, aunt, June Britton and her family, nieces and nephew, Ashley, Marissa and Matthew (Sam), his extended Shupsky family, cousins who were like siblings to him and friends, Mani and Rebecca. We remember in a special way Walton, Michael's canine companion. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Church, 626 South Olden Avenue, Hamilton, NJ. Friends may call Monday from 8:30 AM until church departure at Koschek and Porter Funeral Directors, 1115 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ.
