While I did not know Darrell personally I did know him through the eyes and words of Donna who loved Darrell deeply and Darrell loved her as much. I and others witnessed their mutual affection when the flowers sent by Darrell arrived at Donna's work station. I know he'll be missed by many.
Sincerely,
Nick

Darrell was a special soul. He loved to be on the stage and he loved the people around him, from his family to the musical family he was a great part of. The last time we played together was a special moment, it hit a spot in my heart and it was a pure pleasure to know him. The good ones go too fast, and he certainly fit the bill. Fly high brother DD, Love, Dac, the Few, and the Family of Dr Lou's.

I have so many memories of Darrell! This is the PERFECT memory of Darrell, for me:
WAY back in the 80's, during our visiting clubs-bands-and bar days - Darrell convinced me to dance to this song...which was the HARDEST song to dance to - if not impossible! It became a running joke for us for the next 20 years. We would hear it on the radio, or Darrell would play it when I was around - and wait for my reaction. It's my Darrell song. I can never hear this song without thinking of him.

I became acquainted with Darrell 5-6 yrs ago on Facebook! We shared the love of music so pretty much spoke to each other most everyday! He usually had some music trivia going on and although I could not keep up with him he taught me a lot!
I knew of his illness but I thought he had beat cancer! He never said or complained about anything and I honestly thought maybe his father had passed! What? No!!! It was Darrell
He was a perfect gentleman just a nice guy and I'm gonna miss him but I know he loved his wife and family so much!
I'm glad he passed quietly at home listening to The Allman Brothers-he loved them so much! Fly high Darrell I will truly miss you❤ Prayers for Donna who was his life partner and family!

Darrell and I went to school together from Kindergarten through high school. We were very good friends during our high school years as we both were part of the music program at Florence High School. We performed together in plays and musicals and had a lot of great times outside of the music realm. May God grant him peace!!!

I am a childhood friend and a fan of your music for years. We loved to come out and listen to you play.
God has an Angelic Drummer to add to the Rock Band In the Heavens.
You fought a long battle and although we will miss your friendship, we know you are no longer in pain and know you will be watching over your family and friends from the heavens
