I'm so glad I had a brief time to visit with Bill's family at his memorial service---I wish I could have been able to stay longer to share my special memories of Bill. He was such a great guy all through school. It was Bill who gave me my nickname of "Ruby" that stuck. Bill loved to make us all laugh, but he really liked to single me out because I always blushed bright red at any attention.
Each of us from his Class of '71 has our own special memories of Bill and we'll miss him very much.

My family and I come to this site often---it's like a new fashioned way to look down the lane and see who's coming to the house to express condolences for the loss of Bill. And sure enough, we usually see another friend has recently appeared to light a candle and share a message of sympathy, encouragement, and expressions of love for Bill. Thank you all for stopping by from each of us in the family. Through Bill, it seems we have become kindred spirits. Everyone's heartfelt kindness to us continues to be a great comfort. Through all our sadness, your love and admiration for Bill and your beautiful and comical memories of him will carry us through this difficult time. Bill was a very special presence to us and we believed to many others also, but until his passing we had no idea just how many.
We're so grateful to see the great number of lives he touched in a significant way and how much he will be remembered with love for his kind, caring personality, incredible intellect, and great wit. Beyond doubt, Bill's greatest pleasure in life was to make people laugh and we are so glad that you also appreciate his grand sense of humor as much as we do. We can see by your messages that he will be immensely missed by all of us blessed to know him. We are so sorry that Bill was called away much too soon---we had hopes for his health and well being and for more time for him to enjoy the Yankees, the Beatles, and long drives in the car he so cherished. Regardless, we can't help ourselves it seems, we still have to smile each time we think of him. And we all know Bill would definitely want it that way.

I have a son who I thought was the most kind and compassionate person I knew until I met Bill. His compassion for others was immeasurable! My son is now a Beatles fan because of Bill. His deep, hearty laugh was always contagious! He will be so very, very missed in this family however will continue to be loved and prayed for. My condolences to his family...I'm sure if he leaves such a big void in our world, it must be such an empty space for you.
WE LOVE AND MISS YOU BILL!!!
GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday will never seem so far away when we think of you!

Beth&MaryJean,
I am so sorry that I wasn't home to get the news of Bill's death. When Mary recently told me, I can't tell you how shocked I was and still am. I want to share a couple of memories that I have of Bill.
I met Bill when we were much younger. I was out walking and he was cruising around in his blue Karman Ghia. We were complete opposites, yet, became friends. I remember at that time he loved to listen to T-Rex. I, also, remember how impressed I always was by his intelligence; specifically his vocabulary and his uncanny ability to add numbers in his head.
I have to share two things that we would always mention to each other when he would stop by to see me. And again, we were much younger when we took a walk in a snowstorm from Roebling to the Esquire Diner. I don't remember why we did it, but, I remember MaryJean coming to our rescue when we finally arrived at the diner. The other memory that I know Bill treasured was when I went, with his mom, to visit him when he was having a bad time.
Again, I am so sorry I wasn't able to attend his service, but, I will always remember and love Bill. He was an out-going, intelligent, wonderful friend, who will be missed, but never forgotten!

Bill was a great guy to work with and always knew how to make me laugh. He will be missed by all. He was truly the biggest Yankee fan I ever met. One of our last conversations was about the Yankees and how we hoped they would make it to the World Series and play against the Mets in a subway series. Maybe he will make it happen.

Bill and I shared a love for the Yankees. Out greeting every morning was the standings. Either how far out or in front the Yankees were in the division. In the winter it was how many days until spring training. I worked with Bill for 15 years. I never saw him in a bad mood or short of patience. He was always willing the help you if you needed it. He will be missed by all of his co-workers.
