Obituary of Phyllis Mudge Sterling

Burlington Township: Phyllis Mudge Sterling, age 95 entered her eternal life at dawn on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Masonic Village at Burlington. She was born in Newport News, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Matthew M. Michie and Arlina Church Michie. Phyllis resided in Kernersville, North Carolina for 20 years before returning to New Jersey and calling the Masonic Village at Burlington her home for the last decade. Phyllis loved to travel. Her favorite destinations included the majority of the capital cities for each state in the United States. She recorded her travels and activities in journals throughout her life and was a music enthusiast. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Burlington serving as the past superintendent of Sunday School, Elder and was also the first female Trustee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Mudge in 1973, her husband, Vernon Sterling in 2012 and her siblings Malvern and Alethea. Mrs. Sterling is survived by her children and their spouses, Lynda and David Borgstrom, David and Patricia Mudge and Brian and Cynthia Mudge, step children, Dawn Isenberg (the late Peter), Vance and Wendy Sterling and Bruce Sterling, grandchildren, Colin, Jeffrey, Ian, Daniel, Sumner, Laura and Jennifer, great grandchildren, Samantha, Sabrina, Zachary, Nathaniel, Wilder, Maya, Maxwell and Sloane as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the Masonic Village at Burlington Chapel, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlingon, NJ. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Masonic Village at Burlington Chapel. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.
