Evelyn A. Petrit (Evey) DellaValle

Masonic Village at Burlington: Evelyn A. DellaValle, age 92 of the Masonic Village in Burlington departed this life peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at home in the company of loved ones. Evelyn was born in Brooklyn, New York and was the first-born child to the late Gustav Petrit and Agnes Freedholm Petrit and sister to her younger brother who passed at the age of 7. She resided in Brooklyn before moving to Old Bridge in 1972 and resided there until relocating to Homestead at Mansfield in 2001 to be closer to her daughter, Nancy's family. On November 23, 2019, she and her husband Lou "Louie" moved to the Masonic Village of Burlington. She was employed by Pepsi Cola as an International Exchange Representative before getting married and becoming a dedicated mother and devoted homemaker. At that time, she worked for the Old Bridge School system part time. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Columbus where she and her husband served as greeters and were involved in the many social events and fellowship. Evelyn was part of the Red Hat Society where she enjoyed wearing her elaborate hats, accessories and relished in the comradery amongst the ladies at tea parties, garden tours and game nights. Evelyn will be fondly remembered for her kind hearted spirit, generous nature, love of animals… always taking in strays, rehabilitating them and giving them loving homes. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband, partaking in clubhouse activities among friends, watching westerns, reading James Patterson novels and her fun passion for Bingo. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her loving devotion to her husband, "Louie" and daughter, Nancy … and being Gibby to the precious angels in her life, Valerie and Jack who she was always so proud to say were her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Louis P. "Lou" "Louie" DellaValle in 2021. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Thorpe and her cherished grandchildren Valerie and Jack Thorpe. Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Thursday at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 24573 East Main Street, Columbus with Pastor Neill Tolboom officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 10:30 AM to 11:30AM at the church. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C.
